Card crew
AMP members write dozens of birthday and special event cards every month to incarcerated people. These cards help light up people's cells. They remind people they are not alone. Cards show guards someone cares and that can keep a person safer. Many AMP members are isolated because they are BIPOC, elders, queer, trans, Longtimers or lifers, disabled, or all of the above. For non-incarcerated people, writing a card is often the first time they "meet" someone incarcerated. Connection across walls is important for both writers!

There is no obligation to keep a friendship going with people you send a card to. But many people receive a thank you note they can't help but respond to!

I really want to thank people for sending me birthday cards sense my family haven't. I believe that small gestures like this can make a difference in people specially if there going through a rough time like I am right now. --Jaime, inside AMP member

Card parties
|
We have regular card-writing gatherings in the Boston area, including Somerville where you can write cards or your pen-pal in community. We are doing several large card parties at Brookline Booksmith throughout 2026. We will also be tabling at several events where you can write a note without joining the card crew-- check our events.
We also welcome you to host a card party yourself anywhere! And if you're part of an org that would like to write cards with your members, we can help with that, too. You can learn about card parties and what we ask of organizers here. Then reach out! |

![A screenshot of a Corrlinks message. I hope its OK to write you again. I'm sitting in my cell looking at all the Christmas cards I got from all other the united States and I'm over whelmed at the love and kindness that I got over 10 cards and if that wasn't enough the money that was sent I was able to help others here that have nothing at all! [highlighted] This was the first time in over 10 years that I got more than one card you all at amp have given me more hope than I've had in a long time. [end highlight, word blacked out] if you could put this on my bio I would like if you can't its OK and thank you for showing me that there are people out there that do really care about us behind bars. So thank you Laura.](/uploads/1/4/9/8/149891685/ty-laura-winter25_orig.jpg)
